Child abuse prevention?

I am doing a project on child abuse prevention and I am trying to find a way to educate young parents. Anybody have any ideas as to how one would set up programs to educate parents. The project deals with breaking the cycle of abuse. We see many times where the children who are being abuse are being abused by their parents. These parents are young, under the age of 24. I am trying to think of a way to educat them.

Child abuse prevention?
I work for family services and there are alot of cases with children. Go to familyservicesinc.net and it may give you some information. You could also contact your closest agency and ask for information. There are programs that you can go to. I work for the domestic violence for women department, so I don't have a whole lot of info I can give you on child abuse but your local agency can give you all the information on it that you need.
Reply:You need to find a way to reach young parents to inform them of your teachings. You know, if you are going to have meetings or classes you need to advertise that. THen, you need to show them how to break the chain and avoid making the mistakes their parents made. This could be a lot of work if you are not educated yourself!
Reply:Talk to pediatricians and get list of reccomended reading on the proper ways to discipline children. Anger management, most child abuse is a parental temper tantrum. Set up a buddy line sort of thing where if they are getting frustrated they can call anytime day or night.

Try to get them to understand what was done to them as a child was wrong without villifying their parents. Also give them a line to use on their family member who feel that they aren't "disciplining" their children properly (i.e. spanking, beating, using a belt.) Some sort of non-conflict line such as we are going with the current expert opinions, or studies.

Good Luck. I hope you have lots of sucess because what you are doing needs to be done.
