Sonic bark prevention?

just wondering if anyone has any experience with the sonic bark prevention devices?

i would prefer to get the type you mount somewhere in the home, that way my dog does not have to wear a collar and he is free to bark outside, at the dog park, etc.

has anyone had any luck with this type of system?

Sonic bark prevention?
We had a female Great Pyrenees that was a relentless barker. I bought one of these to use just at night and it didn't seem to work *at all* with her. JMPE
Reply:I personally have never used them. but just try to steer clear of the kind that shock the dogs that's just soooo mean...
Reply:My parents tried the collar version on their very barky jack russell. didn't work at all, unfortunately for them!

Teens & HIV Prevention, what works?

I work for a teen HIV prevention program and we're trying to create a video. What do you think is important to include in the video. It's goin to be about 20 minutes long.

Teens %26amp; HIV Prevention, what works?
I would include the fact that the only 100% way to avoid death from this incurable disease (comparable to cancer) is abstinence. Be real. Do not sugar coat anything. They need to be afraid. Very afraid. Interview people who got HIV from heterosexual contact. Many teens still think only gay or drug users get it.
Reply:condoms
Reply:It is unfortunate but I doubt if this will have any impact on teens watching the film. Teens all think that "it won't happen to me". They are indestructible... life goes on forever. So they drink and drive. So they smoke cigarettes. So they have unprotected sex.

Even showing teens who have unfortunately been infected with HIV/Aids, the same dummies will still go along and have unprotected sex. And if they are lucky enough not to get HIV/Aids, they could come down with any one of the myriad sexually transmitted diseases.

If you want to Try to make a video that will scare teens into smart behavior, be as graphic and gruesome as you can... really show them the end results of this horrible disease. Maybe you'll scare one or two of them into being smart.
Reply:only candoms .
Reply:Please emphasize the option of abstinence. It is an important factor in teens making a major physical and mental decision that can affect their entire life. That is the only sure way of prevention. Everything else has risks. Emphasize making choices in a positive way such as finding friends to group date with, choosing friends that will support their decision, etc.
Reply:Abstinance, proper use of condoms including use of water based lubricants to prevent the condom from breaking, emotional effects of sex, the "sex Pyramid" to show sexual history of partners partners partners.

Walmart loss prevention?
Loss prevention remains in effect 24 hours a day!
Reply:Walmart sucks!
Reply:If you mean are there any times during the day where they are less...um...vigilant in their loss prevention efforts, I'm pretty sure the answer is no.
Reply:There may not be plain clothes people in place overnight, but there is 24 hour loss prevention techniques including reducing all registers down to one, and closing down certain departments. We all pay when someone steals and makes prices go up

Is heartworm prevention (pills, etc) for cats REALLY necessary?

I've heard vets say YES, we should do all necessary to prevent heartworm. But are they just trying to stay in business and want money? What's the REAL risk of an indoor cat getting heartworm from a mosquito? Is it the same as a human getting heartworm (very very very low)? Because if it is... i don't want to pay for heartworm prevention pills!

Is heartworm prevention (pills, etc) for cats REALLY necessary?
Whoa guys - why say something as dangerous as "cat's can't get heartworm" if you don't KNOW?

Cats can get heartworm. And the likelihood depends on where abouts in the States you are (not sure about other countries) Read the info on the link below:

http://www.cathealth.com/FlHW.htm
Reply:As far as I know, heartworms are extremely rare in cats. I've never heard of medication specifically for cats with that problem. Heartworms are mainly a problem seen in dogs.
Reply:I dont think cats can get heart worm, ask another vets opinion
Reply:I would just go for this:

Revolution® is a great all-around product approved for use in cats to prevent heartworms. This is a topical medication that is applied to the skin on the back of the head monthly. It is very safe for cats and kittens. Besides preventing heartworms, this medication also controls fleas, ticks, intestinal parasites, sarcoptic mange, and ear mites.

http://www.cpvh.com/Articles/15.html
Reply:Cats certainly can get heartwom and it seems to be becoming more common, but the risk is nowhere near as high as in dogs (estimated to be 1 cat case for every 10-20 dog cases). From memory, the average cat burden is very low, it takes longer for the lifecycle to be completed and the adult worms do not survive as long in the cat as they do in the dog.

Many of the worming/flea products used do also prevent heartworm- e.g. Revolution %26amp; Advocate. I personally would not push heartworm prevention for a cat like I would for a dog, but some vets will- some of it depends on how prevalent HW is in their area.

Data execution prevention problems.?

hi defraged my laptop a few days ao and message boxes started popping up saying data execution prevention it keeps closing the windows explorer. my laptop uses xp service pack 2 i've never had this problem before. i tried to do a system restore but it didn't work

Data execution prevention problems.?
some processors have a function that signals an error when the program segment (PSEG) overlaps with the data segment (DSEG). You may have a bios setting that will turn this off. This caused by a hardware memory managment security function that was intended to trap possible security holes in jpeg files.

Data Execution Prevention is starting to annoy me?

Ok i cant open anything anymore with "Data Execution Prevention - Microsoft Windows" popping up all the time. I cant even open up a blank USB drive without it freaking out. I have windows XP media center edition is there any way that I can totally obliterate this thing from my computer forever?

Data Execution Prevention is starting to annoy me?
Data execution prevention isn't really the problem. You've likely got some kind of virus or malware that has corrupted a few Windows system files. The best fix would be a good anti-virus and trying running a utitlity call "sfc" with the "scannow" switch.

Data Execution Prevention on WINDOWS LOGON???

My computer is running WinXP professional, and is just fine. But today I started it, and it start to show some kind of message that saying that Data Execution Prevention has closing program "LogonUI". From what I know, LogonUI is a program that handle Windows login information. I click on the "close message" button, and Windows display an "illegal operation and we are sorry to close your application" window (also a standard operation after DEP window).

But the crazy thing is that LogonUI is an essential service run by Windows, and it WON'T turned off!!! Everytime it's turned off, it loaded itself to memory, and that makes DEP turned it off again, which makes it loaded itself again, and so on. It's not something so emergency, but it just bugged me off.

I have tried to turn off DEP protection on LogonUI program, but it has no effect. DEP still keeping close my LogonUI. Can someone suggest some information on how to overcome this problem? Thanks!

Data Execution Prevention on WINDOWS LOGON???
------------ try this.... Press windowsKey+ Pause Break %26gt; go to advance%26gt; under perormance.... choose settings%26gt; and choose Data Execution Prevention.... and set the option....... off!

----------- lol i did'nt read your detail information so also try running Chk disk and Disk clean up and if possible Disk Defragmentation!

Mosquito bites - prevention & cures please....?

am suffering from mosquito bites (in Spain) and would like advice on 1) prevention and 2) cures (if the former does not work!!). Have tried spraying with lemon cologne before going out, with reasonable success, but if you miss a bit the blighters seem to find it and bite me! Have also tried a hot

t-bag on a bite, which seems to take the sting out, but my bites tend to go bad easily. Any help / advice would be much appreciated - thanks!

Mosquito bites - prevention %26amp; cures please....?
I live in Florida capital of mosquito issues.

You need an repelant that contains, DEET, it's the best for keeping these pests off you.

Wair long sleeves and stay in during the early evening, and morning, this is when they feed.

Don't wair colognes or sent, some are attracted by these.

Rub your bits with a mint alcohol, or Absorbean Jr. ( I am not my spelling is correct), but either works great on bites.

If your bites go bad on you it means you are allergic to the bites and infected wash them and put an anti biotic antiseptic ointment on them to kill and prevent further infection.

Go to the doctor if they don't clear up.

The best advise is don't get bit stay in doors during their peek feeding times, early evening, morning and after it rains, and if there is a lot of humidity in the air.

This too attracts them.

They are not to be messed with, mosquito bites can be fatal.

Malaria, West Nial viruses, plus the possibility of allergy.

Sweat attracts these pest too, so try to stay cool and in where there is a/c. If a/c exsists in Spain take advantage of it.

Powder like talc can help in this aria.

Showers, and talc powders can be a big help.

The repelant is best if you need to be out side.

DEET is a plant oil that mosquitos and other biting pests hate.

Believe me I know.

I am a Floridian, 46 years now..
Reply:Another trick is a coil that Off puts out that keeps the mosquitoes away works well. You light it out side to repel them.

We use Deep Woods Off with DEET along with mosquito netting if possible.

. Report It

Reply:You may not like Marmite, but if you eat Marmite sandwiches then you don't get them.

There is something in Marmite that mosquitos and flys etc. can smell through your skin (people can't, don't worry) and they hate it, so they stay away.

And to get rid of them, use Anthesan cream. You can buy it in chemists in England.
Reply:Use Tea Tree oil. Firstly it repells the mozies and secondly if they still attack it has antiseptic qualities that reduce any swelling and pain. I used to use it when living in Mexico and it worked for me.
Reply:prevention: take one or two garlic capsules (not the oudorless variety) every day. It will leave a garlic smell on your skin that mosquitos don't like, but other Humans won't notice it. This prevention got me through my travels in Australia without being bitten once. Without the capsules I would have suffered badly!

Scientists have identified insect repelling chemicals produced by people who don't get bitten by mosquitoes and will be revealing how they made their discovery at the Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition which opens today (3 July 2006).

The teams at Rothamsted Research and Aberdeen University, who previously answered the long running question of why some people get bitten and others don't, have now isolated chemicals present in the body odour of people who naturally repel insects and have filed patents.

"Those of us who don't get bitten by mosquitoes produce unattractive chemicals, which mask their otherwise attractive odours", said research leader, Professor John Pickett. "Humans produce hundreds of different chemicals so it has been challenging to identify the particular chemicals that mosquitoes respond to".

The scientists used a technique known as gas chromatography-electroantennography' to identify which components of the odour the insect can detect.

"Gas chromatography allows us to separate out the eau de human' into its individual chemical components. The electroantennography then allows us to simultaneously record the responses in the mosquito's antennae." Said Dr James Logan, who is working with Professor Pickett at Rothamsted.

The team are hopeful that their detailed research findings, which have been submitted for publication in a leading scientific journal, may lead to the development of effective natural' insect repellents and may also result in new control methods for biting pests responsible for livestock losses and the spread of human illnesses, such as malaria, dengue fever and yellow fever in developing countries. Until the results have been published, the team cannot reveal the details of specific chemical compounds.

The researchers are now carrying out trials to test their effectiveness in preventing mosquito bites.

Professor Pickett added: "We are currently testing the natural compounds by comparing them with World Health Organisation approved insect repellents on individuals known to be attractive to mosquitoes we hope to publish the results of these trials soon."

Visitors to the Summer Science Exhibition can test their 'attractiveness' to mosquitoes, without the risk of getting bitten, using another piece of Rothamsted kit, an olfactometer'. Volunteers are invited to place their hand in one chamber and mosquitoes are exposed to a choice of two airstreams, one of which is laced with odour from the volunteer's hand. The mosquito's behaviour in response to the smell can then be observed to determine if a volunteer is attractive' or repellent' to mosquitoes.

Treatment of Bites

Itching is the main symptom to control with insect bites. Topical antihistamines and anaesthetics are for quick temporary relief; hydrocortisone cream has slower onset, but longer effect.

Ibuprofen Gel. For pain and swelling from insect stings, is an excellent anti-inflammatory with quick onset.

Hydrocortisone cream 1% This preparation improves both itching and swelling/redness. It actually has anti-inflammatory effects, not just symptomatic relief like the topical anaesthetics. However, it does take longer for full effect than topical anaesthetics.

Xylocaine Gel 2% For immediate relief from surface itching and pain.

Any systemic reaction should be seen by a doctor immediately. This includes hives wherever they may occur, swelling in the face, shortness of breath or wheezing, difficulty swallowing, and light-headedness or fainting. These usually occur within minutes to an hour after the sting.

Local reactions generally don't require professional care. However, if your local reaction causes enough swelling or pain to distract you from your normal activities or keep you awake despite basic treatment, you should see a doctor. If the redness/swelling is worsening after 24 hours, see your doctor.

Oily skin prevention?

I have a small face but i hated is that it is so oily.Anybody knows bout Natural oily face prevention?

Oily skin prevention?
Even oily skin needs a moisturizer, but choose a light, watery fluid; this will be enough for your skin. Allow the moisturizer to sink in well and then absorb the excess with a tissue to prevent shine.check out http://tipsfromruby-skincare.blogspot.co...
Reply:get those oil sheets and rub them on your face..they suck the oil off ur face without messing up ur makeup
Reply:Use clay mask once in a week as it absorbs excess oil.
Reply:I tend to have an oily face also and I use MyChelle Oil Free Grapefruit Cream. It is a little pricey but IT WORKS. Trust Me. My skin has gotten a lot better. It's natural and it doesn't dry out your skin. It makes it perfect. It controls the oils in your skin and it moisturizes it at the same time. A great product.

Reply:An oily skin , as the name implies, is one in which the sebaceous or oil-producing glands are over active. As surface grease tends to attract dirt, an oily skin acquires a dirty surface film , that needs to be removed daily. For more details log to http://useinfo-oilyskin.blogspot.com/

Dog arthritis prevention - glucosamine and chondroitin?

What is a safe dose? I went to petco and petsmart and near all the bottles for this mixture of medicine says either 1/2 tablet to 1 tablet per 40lbs of weight.

My dog is a Pomeranian at 7lbs. I've been told it would be a good idea to put him on glucosamine and chondroitin for the prevention of arthritis.

Dog arthritis prevention - glucosamine and chondroitin?
OK so if your dog is 7 pounds I'd give her a 1/4 of a tablet. That would be suitable for a 10 pound dog. She's close enough to that to handle it.
Reply:glucosamine is the best. it works on my older dog great. you can get smaller doses for your dog. you can get them at Target for like $4.99 for a big bottle.

in my experience, chondroitin doesn't work as well in the long run.
Reply:Try looking in the chemist, you can find exactly the same thing for people but the dosages can be smaller. Check out the arthritis relief tablets containing more than just glucosamine and chondroitin, they often contain other herbal remedies, some of which are safe for dogs, some only in small doses, which the tablets have. If you cant find one you feel comfortable with, try the powder form instead of the tablets, its less concentrated, and easier to just sprinkle 1/2 a teaspoon on their food. Hope i have been some help, i get people arthritis tablets containing, fish oil, sea kelp extract, zinc, glucosamine and chondroitin, but i have large dogs, all weighing over 40lbs each, so dosing them is easier, one gets 4 tablets daily (213lbs), 1+1/2 for 3 of them and one gets one tablet daily.
Reply:You might be wasting your money. There was an item on TV tonite where they said that glucosamine and chondroitin are about worthless and totally ineffective in humans. I know that doesn't translate to dogs, but it is something to consider.

Visa Fraud Prevention Services-scam?

I just recieved a phone call on my anwsering machine that said they were from Visa Fraud Prevention services- they told me they were calling about fraudulent activity on my account. They gave me their number and told me to call back to give them my card number and I allmost did but decided to go on the internet and see if it was a legitimate number. The number they gave was 1-877-666-4436- I checked online and could find nothing on Visas website with that given umber and I also checked my account online and nothing appears to be missing. Share this with elderly relatives of yours too.

I think that they are a bit more trusting and would be more likely to give this information

Never ever give your card information over the phone to someone who calls YOU...if they are the real card company, they will already have it!
Reply:It is a scam. Don't give your account number, unless you are the one who called Visa and you know for a fact it is legitimate.

Good luck.
Reply:Your credit card will call you about suspicious activity. The best thing to do is to use the number on the back of your card and call your credit card company. If the fraud department has called you then customer service will let you know and transfer you to them.

Can anyone tell me about acid rain prevention in detail i need to write 7-8 pages on acid rain prevention??
I unwittingly signed a petition one time because, They said the local incinerator was causing allot of pollution in the city of Madison heights. I had told my mom what I had done and she said, Thanks Joy you shut down our trash and now we will have to pay for it to be hauled away.

OOOPPS Sorry mom but I had a personal issue with it and thought it would be best.

several weeks before I had even seen the potition here is what happeded.

I heard from the car dealership that is was acid rain that was tearing up our new car. After 6 months we notice the paint is blistering off. just tiny patches.

So I go to the insurance company and they say yep its acid rain and we are not responsible. Then he pointed out that we lived with in a half a mile from the smoky Sky's of the incinerator that was functioning very poorly at the time.

So we kicked and fussed and my husband told the manager off and made a remark about people strutting around in their pin stripped suit.

The settlement was they repainted for us and we paid the deductible.

I just have a little more to add. A few weeks later I run into my cousin and she introduces her husband Ron and I begin to blush as I stare the man in the face with the pin stripe suit. hahahaahhahhaha

Go get on that project looks like alot of people did a search for you. Its great to have people out there that like to share.

Technical solutions

In the United States, many coal-burning power plants use Flue gas desulfurization (FGD) to remove sulfur-containing gases from their stack gases. An example of FGD is the wet scrubber which is commonly used in the U.S. and many other countries. A wet scrubber is basically a reaction tower equipped with a fan that extracts hot smoky stack gases from a power plant into the tower. Lime or limestone in slurry form is also injected into the tower to mix with the stack gases and combine with the sulfur dioxide present. The calcium carbonate of the limestone produces pH-neutral calcium sulfate that is physically removed from the scrubber. That is, the scrubber turns sulfur pollution into industrial sulfates.

In some areas the sulfates are sold to chemical companies as gypsum when the purity of calcium sulfate is high. In others, they are placed in a land-fill.

[edit]

International treaties

A number of international treaties on the long range transport of atmospheric pollutants have been agreed e.g. Sulphur Emissions Reduction Protocol and Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution.

[edit]

Emissions trading

An even more benign regulatory scheme involves emission trading. In this scheme, every current polluting facility is given an emissions license that becomes part of capital equipment. Operators can then install pollution control equipment, and sell parts of their emissions licenses. The main effect of this is to give operators real economic incentives to install pollution controls. Since public interest groups can retire the licenses by purchasing them, the net result is a continuously decreasing and more diffused set of pollution sources. At the same time, no particular operator is ever forced to spend money without a return of value from commercial sale of assets.

Double taxation prevention?

I am working in UK since 27th june 2007 and will be returning india in 2nd Feb 2008.

Can you please explain double taxation prevention specific to my case and I would also like to know that how can i prevent the double taxation and what all documents i would require for it.

Double taxation prevention?
If you are working in the UK for 7 months, you are treated as tax resident here as you will have spent over 183 days here. Therefore, any work carried out in the UK is liable to UK tax. However, if you go back to India in Feb 08, you may also be liable there.

When you leave the UK, you should fill in form P85 and attach parts 2%26amp;3 of your P45 from your employer. Your time spent in the UK is in 1 tax year, Apr07-Apr08. So, if you have earned less than the personal allowance of £5225 from June 07-Feb08, you will be due a repayment of all of the tax taken from you. There will be no issue of double taxation then, as you will have paid nothing to the UK. If however, you have earned more than £5225, you may still have overpaid, but you will not get the whole amount of tax back. If this is the case, when you declare your income to the Indian authorites, you should also declare the tax which was due to the UK authorites. They should then give you a credit for the tax paid in the UK.

DEP does not allow some exes to run because they might look suspicious, good protection from viruses.

You can disable it and add programs that are allowed to run by going to:

Start %26gt; Control Panel %26gt; Performance and Maintenence %26gt; System - under Advanced tab, under Performance click settings, then click the Data Execution Prevention tab.
Reply:Look if you are going to use freeware and crapware as your security suite then you are probably not very protected and probably shouldn't trust the results...

Try running a web based scan from someplace reliable like http://housecall65.trendmicro.com

Then consider investing in a proper security suite (antivirus, firewall, antispyware, etc) from a reliable vendor (like mcafee or something) and keep it properly configured and completely up to date.

You may also want to ensure you have run windows updates and do so regularly.

DEP is a function that is designed to protect core system files from malware. It would certainly help to know what program DEP is closing... that might give you a clue as to what other crapware you've installed that could be causing the problem.

Time For A NEW Prevention Strategy?

being that the Chjolesterol Campaigh is a DISMAL FAILURE for the prevention of coronary heart disease don't you think it is time for a NEW PREVENTION STRATEGY?

Time For A NEW Prevention Strategy?
The key to prevention is found at the end of ones fork. You won't, however find any Dr. to tell you that. Why? well one reason is because they study MEDICINE (not nutrition) The other is that doctors make money when people are sick.

The food industry is yet another reason. How do you think the dairy farmers of America would respond to an ad campaign saying that milk was actually harmful? Or the Cattlemans' association would think about the fact that animal fat/protein is the #1 contributor to heart disease?

It could get ugly.
Reply:Hey Oldman, Rozwell, Ashley, Mike...what up?

Here are some facts:

From 1994 to 2004, death rates from coronary heart disease declined 33 percent.

In the same 10-year period the actual number of deaths declined 8 percent despite a larger number of people who are getting older.

The number of people who show up in the ER in the midst of a severe heart attack (STEMI) is substantially less than what it used to be. People are now showing up with much more commonly with mild presentations that are far less life threatening (NSTEMI) and can be treated without significant long term consequences.

The people who do have severe heart attacks are always the people who are NOT being treated for their controllable risk factors - diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol (I know this is going to send you over the edge), and smoking cessation.

So, what do you propose to enhance the treatment plan?

-Addendum-

Yes, and rates for obesity and diabetes is way higher too. Not very constructive in your reply...and you called me a name. I guess I'll have to report that.

-Addendum, addendum-

Wait, I make money by renewing prescriptions? Hmm and I always thought it was unreimbursible administrative work (usually done early in the morning or early evening) that takes about an hour a day, requiring a chart review of each patient, ordering appropriate tests for monitoring, and having patients come in for check-ups if we haven't seen them in a year. I wonder where the money comes in?

Have a great day.

being that the Chjolesterol Campaigh is a DISMAL FAILURE for the prevention of coronary heart disease don't you think it is time for a NEW PREVENTION STRATEGY?

Reply:I said AGE ADJUSTED INCIDENCE NOT death rate.

Mold prevention in a crawl space. Lime?

I have a year old house in North carolina that I recently found mold growing under the plastic in the crawl space. The builder is going to treat everything but isn't planning any type of prevention. I am now going to leave the vents open in the winter (I closed them last winter and opened in the summer per their recs) and was considering spreading lime since it theoretically makes the environment less prone to fungus ie mold. Does my theory hold water? I know I can get a fan system or dehumidifier (my builder said this will dry out the wood) but I was looking for a cheaper alternative to try first. Thanks.!

Mold prevention in a crawl space. Lime?
mold only grows in the presence of moisture. Is the mold inside the plastic by the insulation? If so, it must not be the proper thickness of plastic or it is not sealed properly. The plastic should be tapped at every joint and seam. It should also be to the ends where it meets the exterior walss and be taped and sealed there as well. The builder may have used the improper thickness and may not have taped the plastic vapor barrier correctly. No air should be able to penetrate this barrier. I would also have caulked around the perimeter of the barrier where it meets the walls. How is he going to treat it? If it is behind the barrier he would have to remove the barrier to get to it. Is he going to do that? If so have him replace it with a thicker plastic and tape everything including the spots where the staples go through.
Reply:I had the same problem, I removed the plastic and sprayed everything with a household bleach solution and let it air out for a week and replaced the plastic with new. As long as you have the plastic down, it will be susceptible to mold.

Hearthworm prevention?

is REVOLUTION a good herathworm prevention for dogs?

Hearthworm prevention?
Honestly Revolution for dogs is not that fabulous. I would stick to something like Heartgard. It seems like a good deal cause it's supposed to take care of fleas and such but it really doesn't. You are paying more for nothing. It is fantastic on cats though!
Reply:i would use an alternative but i havent heard anything bad about revolution....also flee controls like frontline have heartworm prevention biult in i think
Reply:I've heard that Revolution is a good brand but more for cats. My vet recommends Heartgard therefore I'm using that for mine and I don't have any problems so far.
Reply:Not really, it can burn the dog's skin and isn't always completely effective.

You would do better to use a separate heartworm preventative and a separate flea preventative.
Reply:Heartguard plus, this is a really good product, get from vet, it not only prevents heartworms, but prevents hook worms, you can get the tablets, but most dogs love the chewables better, once a month........

all of my dogs have been on it since pups.....would not use anything else...

revolution is not that reliable....

STD prevention advice column for health class project?

I had to write an STD prevention advice column for health class and i need to make it colorful and add pictures...my only problem is....idk wat the pics should be of because my teacher said not to like put pics of STDs cause thats pretty gross....so does anyone have any ideas??? thanks.

STD prevention advice column for health class project?
you could use representation pics... show pics of people in africa w/ aids (since that is what people first think of...) then google an average american with aids..

OR what I would do is take two pics and have them decide who they think has HIV or chlamydia etc... and have the infected person be a child or business man/women... someone they'd least expect... show them a crowd of people and say can you pic out the people w/ STDS just by looking at these people? No... you never know if someone you sleep w/ has it... Sometimes teachers and people try the scare tatics like "heres what STDS look like" fear them!! When in reality most people dont know they have an STD let alone if their partner does! GOOD LUCK!!
Reply:Personally I think you should use pics of people with STDs...yes it is gross but it would certainly have an impact!

Loss prevention detective?

boscov's is hiring a loss prevention detective. What is this and what do they do?

Loss prevention detective?
Loss prevention detective is a fancy name for what essentially is just an internal security guard for the store. I've heard loss prevention officer before, but never detective.

Basically, you maintain surveillance of people via CCTV (closed circuit television) and observe the offenses occur. Depending on how many people are on duty with you, you would want another to maintain a visual on the floor, and radio what you observe. Once the suspect makes it out of the doors to the store, the crime is complete and are subject to arrest.

Once the arrest is made, you would want to complete a written report for officers who respond, and make a copy of the surveillance if it's available.

In other instances, I get calls from stores, because they were investigating internal losses. Most of the time the internal losses are due to employees giving away items, or stealing money. Those people are arrested for embezzlement by loss prevention once enough info is gathered for an arrest. Afterward, officers are called to complete a report.

The thing is, different stores vary widely in policy of who can pursue, if you can fight a suspect, or chase them out of the store. I know Kohl's has a terrible policy. They cant really do anything, and have to call in "Pending" thefts. Just for info, officers don't really respond to "Pending" thefts. Target, they cant chase people out of the store, and if they resist, are supposed to stand down. The most kick *** loss prevention I see is from Mervyn's and JC Penny. Those people will chase you down, beat you up, and get you and their merchandise back, even if they have to chase you a few city blocks, I've seen it lol.

It's a descent job from what I've seen, and if you are interested in law enforcement, it gives you a small insight into what is required of the job.
Reply:Watch for shoplifters and investigate any missing property from the store.
Reply:Their main job is to observe and detain shoplifters. They also investigate allegations of internal theft.

Suicide Prevention At Church?

As a formally mentally ill patient whose also a Christian, I was devestated at how Churches treat believers who are suicidal. I had a couple incidents where the secretary told me that according to the churches policy I had to LEAVE the property for feeling that way. I had another incident where the pastor asked me if I was gay. And another incident where the Bishop held in how he felt about it and then several weeks later, took me into his office and Blew Up On Me for mentioning it. What is going on in the body of Christ. Why is there little or no suicide prevention programs in Churches?

Suicide Prevention At Church?
I'm saddened by your experience. Sorry to hear that this is the case at your local church. Fortunately, this is not the norm nor the rule though with church counseling pastors.

I'm wondering if the problem with their obviously inaccurate and uncompassionate perspective is because of either their insurance policy says about treating counselees with suicidal impulses or what many who just have a little knowledge of suicidality with post-traumatic stress disordered folks (which can be a life long condition and struggle for many) think about those who frequently experience and share these impulses with others, or both? Many believe, and wrongly so, that it's just "those types" trying to get attention. Many people who are only trained enough to be assistant staff at inpatient units do have a tendency to wrongfully think this way.

My suggestion to you is to not try to fix them, for you'll just continue to be in a power struggle trying to get them to understand. For whatever reason, they must think that you are not trying to get help from them, but rather cause trouble. Crazy, isn't it? So, go to a supportive church who won't act out with such fear and "pigeonhole" you like this, and shows at least an open mind to your situation, and better yet has access to support groups and counseling like the following: Living Waters Program, a DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) support group, or at least a Celebrate Recovery group.

I hope this helps and God's abundant blessings in your walk with Him!
Reply:My church has a great suicide prevention program, so I'm not sure what one you're involved in...
Reply:Cuts out the middle-man.
Reply:That's terrible. We have several people at church who are mentally ill, and unless they become violent, we welcome them (we've only had one problem). Our pastor routinely refers people for counseling and therapy. You should seek out a church that is more accepting of behavior and not so judgemental. That's really sad. Blessings to you!
Reply:They have one at the church I used to go to.
Reply:Look in the paper for a support group or call a hotline.
Reply:"Even churches have forsaken love and mercy." (Leeland, Tears of the Saints).

Some genius probably told them that their insurance requires them to get suicidal people of the premises.

I am SO sorry that happened to you -- it never should have.

I hope you're getting some psychotherapy or have seen a doctor to discuss your feelings--this is something you don't need to handle on your own.

A lot of churches aren't equipped to handle mental illness or emotional problems-- and they are afraid to try. I'm glad to say that many churches ARE now offering counseling by trained professionals on their premises.

I will be holding you in prayer this evening. Peace be with you.

Reply:No one and I mean No one can understand that kind of depression,,unless they have been there..

Voice of experience..
Reply:first there is no money in preventing suicide or not enough. second weather the religious or the atheists are right it doesn't matter both ways life is so precious in its self that we should truly consider both. if an almighty god created us and just us we are too precious to die early and if it is chance that we are here the chances that life exists elsewhere are slim possible but for now we only know for a fact that it is us which makes us pretty rare in the universe.
Reply:I appreciate your thoughts. Suicide prevention is probably a subject most people - not just Christians - have little experience with and an irrational fear of learning about it.

I hope you can find a church where you will be accepted, loved, and counseled properly.

But do not expect too much. Churches are filled with loving people - but often they are not professionally trained to help those with suicidal tendencies.

But I would certainly encourage you to try to find a church where people love God, love each other, study the bible, pray together, cry together....

God bless
Reply:Suicide is unable repenting sin.
Reply:PLEASE find a gay affirming church. Even among Mormans or Catholics there are support groups.

I attempted suicide at age 20. I only failed because I took too many pills and threw them up. The next year was total torment.

But please BELIEVE that there are many people out there who DO understand and who DO love you. Please find them. Do not allow the ignorance of others keep their hold on you.

Google gaychristians.

Forgive me: I realize that I just assumed you were gay. But even still there are churches and church members out there who DO CARE and who DO understand. Please seek them out.

Clarification on Acne treatments/prevention.?

I'm 15 years old and have been living a healthy drug/alcohol free lifestyle. About a month ago I've been starting to experience outbreaks of acne. It started with just a few pimples, but then started to grow in size and numbers. For treatment I've been using a prescription medicine called, "Differin" or "adapaline gel." I wash my face with water about two times a day and depending on my exersize schedule I will take one to two showers daily.

I've been reading many questions on these forums about acne treatments/preventions and have spent several days reading multiple web-sites that are acne related. So far the re-occuring statements have come up, and I'm not really sure if they're true:

Drink lots of water

Wash face multiple times

Exersize can lead to outbreaks

Don't rub areas where pimples are, it leads to more outbreaks.

Acne is caused by dirt rubbing into pores and clogging them?

I need some clarification on good acne treatments/prevention.

Thanks!!!

Clarification on Acne treatments/prevention.?
Everybody has their favorite acne treatment, and I expect you will get some sales pitches here.

I found a website that has a simple explanation of the causes and treatment of acne. It is a government website, so it isn't selling anything, so it isn't biased. It has some diagrams that help to explain what acne is. Follow the link.

Now for your list. Drinking water does not help acne; we all drink water. Washing your face helps prevent clogging of pores. Exercise resulting in sweat and dirt on the skin can make acne worse, but not if you wash afterward. As a matter of fact, your pores open during exercise, and you can clean more thoroughly right afterward. Rubbing areas where pimples are does not necessarily cause more to happen, but if you wear a hat or something else that is against your skin a lot, you are likely to develop more pimples in that area. Acne is not caused by dirt getting into pores and clogging them, but by pores that are blocked by substances from your own body.

Most common acne medications in the US have either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide in them. Salicylic acid can dissolve some of the substance that clogs pores, and benzoyl peroxide can kill germs. Both can dry your skin.

I hope this helps.
Reply:Let me give you a taste of my experience. I have tried everything out there for an "acne" cure, and I've tried differin just like you have, plus zillions of oral medications such as Minocycline, Tetracycline, Doxycycline, etc. It is just a hormonal thing and what is causing it is "overactive" oil glands. The only way possible to keep the sebaceous glands from overproducing oil and causing acne flareups would be to ask about being put on Accutane. Ask your dermatologist about this drug which he may or may not decide if you are a good candidate or not. I was, and I only had mild to moderate acne, with so many whiteheads that I have never been able to control until I took Accutane. Do NOT be scared to take this drug unless you are allergic to Isotretinoin. Go to Acne.org to The "Gallery" and check out Accutane before and after pics and throughout the process of people taking it. It will excite you to see just how dramatic the effects of Accutane have been for people. It is the only medication that has come close to a cure, and does cure many patients. Accutane is a very expensive drug which is usually taken for 4-6 months; I took it for a 6 months period and I have not had acne ever since. It can be very expensive so I do hope that you have insurance to cover most of its costs. I wish you well and that you find the reference helpful. Note: No matter how oily and acne-prone your skin is, Washing it twice a day is the maximum; washing more than this will strip the skin plus making it produce more oil! I wish you the best of luck!
Reply:Acne is mainly hormonal, that's why it usually starts around the teen years, when hormones really kick into high gear. But it can last well into your adult years as well. It's also partly genetic too. So it's not something you're doing wrong, it's not your fault. It's just nature.

Drinking water (it doesn't have to be lots, just the normal amount) won't make a huge impact on acne, but it will be less harmful than drinking alcohol or sodas, which all full of sugar that leads to redness, irritation, and inflamation.

Food doesn't cause breakouts either, but some foods can help control them. Vitamin A enriched sources, carrots, kale, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, etc... are great for acne prone skin because vitamin A will usually help improve how the pores remove dead skin cells and this reduces the chances of developing clogged pores. Fruits are also helpful, because their full of antioxidants, which protect the body from damaging effects.

Washing your face multiple times isn't neccessary. The recommend two times daily is fine. Acne isn't caused by a dirty face. Washing too much will just leave you with a really dry, flaky, irritated face.

Exercising is good for blood circulation in the skin. Sometimes sweatbands or extra sweaty clothes can clog pores. But exercising itself doesn't cause breakouts.

It's not a good idea to rub pimples or your face in general, because we have a lot of oil on our fingers, as well as germs, etc... And definitely don't pop or pick pimples, because it can lead to scarring and pigmentation problems.

Stress is a factor. It has the potential to produce certain chemicals in the body/brain, which can cause skin irritations. So it's best to try and keep that under control by relaxing.

Try using a gentle cleanser rather than something harsh with lots of chemicals. Also consider what shampoo you're using. It too could cause more harm than good. - http://www.dermadoctor.com/product.asp?W...

Loss prevention.?

can anyone out there give me the defintion of the loss prevention field? what it is ,what they do, etc...

Loss prevention.?
Loss Prevention is what they formerly called Security in a store. It's the people who make sure things aren't stolen.
Reply:it prevent your belongings from getting loss i presume
Reply:Loss prevention usually refers to keeping theft down to a minimum for retail stores. The loss prevention staff monitors the hidden surveillance cameras and some actually walk around watching customers to see if they stick something in their pocket. There are many things that people do to steal from stores including changing price stickers and putting small items into larger boxes. The dangerous part is apprehending the suspect without getting yourself beat up, stabbed or even shot at. It does happen.
Reply:loss prevention keeps shrink to a minimum. They come up with new ways to prevent theft in the store (or wherever they are hired). They hold trainings for employers on how to handle theft. A lot of department and retail stores hire loss prevention and it's a pretty good job.

Disease prevention books?

can you recommend good disease prevention books.the profession kind

Disease prevention books?
Love this book, it is my favorite and I use it for everything for me, my family, and friends. It is very simple to follow and lists just about anything you can think of. It's called "Prescription for Nutritional Healing" by James F. Balch, M.D. and Phyliss Balch, C.N.C. The one I use is the Second Edition. This book not only applies to adults but also to children. Check it out!

Vandalism prevention?

We have had some minor vandalism in our neighborhood. Other than better lighting in the area, any advice on prevention?

Vandalism prevention?
Several things you can do, based upon the characteristics of the vandalism.

Is it Tagging, breakage or what?

Is it happening during the day or night?

Are the kids in or out of school when the vandalism is occurring?

Has there been a surge in drug related activity in your area?

Have you organized a neighborhood watch? Get together with your neighbors. If you don't know your immediate neighbors, introduce yourself to them. Keep an eye on their place and you watch theirs. Whomever is home during the daytime, note cars and strangers that course though your street.

Ascertain Jurisdiction: Sheriff's office or Municipal Police.

Contact your Police, meet the cops in your precinct. Do you have community policing or a Volunteer community Policing team? Let the supervision know that you want to see them in your area.

Say hi to the police, nothing is more appauling to law enforcement than to have to respond to a vandalism or burglary call to a home where they AT LEAST have acknowledged the residents. Police are becoming more Reactive than Proactive. Tell them what you want as a taxpayer and property owner.

Do you know the kids in your neighborhood (I know, a difficult thing in this day and age)? Watch the kids. You can tell which ones can't look you in the eye when you talk to or look at them - those you watch.

Here's a plug for me and mine%26gt; a professional Security Officer: Do you have a neighborhood Home Owners Association (HOA) association? Have they contracted Security for the HOA?

There was a blogger that commented about dogs.

NEVER stake a dog in the back yard and expect an instant FAIL-SAFE security system. THERE is no reason to get a canine that will not be inside the house (most of the time) as a family member especially when kids are factored into the equation.

Socialize whatever dog that you might get and TRAIN that dog in obedience. Check local laws for animal care and avoid a dog that you cannot handle (says a Pitbull and German Shepherd owner).

Good luck
Reply:If the offender is caught, be sure to press charges. If you see a crime being committed, call 911 (instead of confronting the person yourself).
Reply:catch them in the act.
Reply:They were interviewing criminals on t.v. and asked them "what can be done to prevent people like you from entering someone's home". The answer from all of them was "a dog". They avoid homes with dogs. Not just because of the barking alerts, but because of the risk of being chewed up.

If you can't have a dog, I recommend a sound recording that is triggered by sensor.

Loss prevention?

I have a job interview tomorrow at Mervyn's for a loss prevention position. I just wanted to know a few things before I go in. If I get the job how much can I expect to be paid an hour? Also is this a good way to get experience to be a police officer?

Loss prevention?
emittlender ^^^ Loan scammer!!!

LOAN SCAM - Do Not Pay UpFront Fees.
Reply:A job as a loss prevention officer or security officer may give you some experience at what it's like dealing with people on the other side of the law though I don't believe that the security officer can carry a weapon or such. I'm not sure about salary, but I don't believe that it's usually many dollars an hour even though one is there to keep the safety of the establishment :) Please remember Not to talk salary until the very end of the interview unless the interviewer/employer brings the topic up first. And it's best to go with 'salary negotiable' on an application or in person if asked as to not bid too high or too low.

To become a police officer, I was under the impression that one must first take a pre-test and then I suppose, depending upon one's score, enter the 'police academy' which is like boot camp and is supposed to be quite physically and emotionally grueling. And there are college programs for those interested in a career in law enforcement. You can also check with your local municipal (township) building to find out the exact requirements for a job as police officer or 'law enforcement officer'.

For more general info on careers: US occupational outlook handbook www.bls.gov/oco and can type into search 'security officer', 'loss prevention officer' or 'police officer.

Crime prevention?

I caught some twat breaking into my car last night. Should I have

A: called the police and sat for 2 hours filling out a crime report

B: Beat the living crap out of him.

I realize in the eyes of the law only one is correct but what do you think is the most effective crime prevention method.

Crime prevention?
Totalitarianism. The old Gulag system seemed to work enviably well.

Either that, or perhaps they could adapt the Yahoo! Answers points system as some sort of incentive to make the known offenders behave themselves.

Otherwise, I don't know. I once found a burglar in my own home. It kept half a dozen police officers off the streets for days with paperwork and forensic tests, and nothing happened, despite their being able to match the little c*nt's fingerprints in their database. I dare say it will be "taken into account" next time they give him community service. Meanwhile, I still haven't finished paying for the damage.
Reply:Well, I went to Borstal and it didn't do me any harm. It was on a Maidstone and District omnibus, on the way to Chatham. Report It

Reply:i would have done B. then A.
Reply:"Beat the living crap out of him."..., I know of one guy that was a tai kwando master who "restrained" a burglar while the police arrived. The burglar had the householder done for assault !There might not be enough police about, but try to help out by doing a "citizens arrest" and you are knackered.

I read the other morning that 1 in every 4 house burglaries are due to people not locking their doors when they go out. I keep my front door and back doors locked when I am IN my house, let alone when I am out .
Reply:Not sure what advice I would give because I know how you feel.
Reply:Surely forcefully removing the crap from him would be the best prevention (and most satisfying) method. But in this day and age, just make sure you can handle the repercussions. Seems lowlife like this arent afraid of police really...see it as a badge of honour to get in trouble with the law.
Reply:Maybe if it was safe to detain him, but you never know what there are on (usually some class A drug).

Police probably would class it as low priority and not catch him.
Reply:No brainer...

A: Call the police, after you C: detain the perp, with whatever force necessary (call it "Citizen's Arrest" until the authorities arrive)--- AND. spend the time filling out a crime report.

If you want your accusations to stick, ya gotta make a paper trail. Document and authenticate. Tell the whole story. Avoid violence when possible, especially when it's a knee-jerk emotional reaction, even if you are tempted to the max. Only choose B as a last resort...and, then, only as a time-filler til the cops get there.

There is no SINGLE solution or instant resolve to anything in life. You need to develop a sense of good judgement for the circumstances at hand, and often that means choosing a course of action involving several options. Don't limit yourself to A or B. Hopefully, you won't choose actions that make you look worse than the criminal who wronged you.
Reply:I dunno, Bongo. I reckon reporting him on Yahoo! Answers is about the most vindictive thing a person can do.
Reply:Never take law into your own hands, that's why we have law enforcement officers.

Scabies prevention (recently exposed)?

We had a house guest last weekend (shared a bed). Called us later to tell us he just found out he had contracted scabies and apparently had them while at our house. Nobody in our household has symtpoms of course- Went to doctor and got scrip for NIX lotion. What other options are there? What could I do to be proactive and prevention minded? I'd rather not get them at all.....

I used to work as a teacher and contracted scabies from a child that was neglected and had very poor hygiene and scabies isn't much fun.

If you do start to show signs of it, do not scratch it and get to the doctor ASAP.

Heartworm prevention??

I have a 3 year old Beagle, and I've never really had her on any heartworm prevention, but we went to the vet today and the doc says he strongly recomends putting her on some because I live in an area that has lots of mosquitos because of the warm/moist air. Am I going to be able to buy some at like walmart or somewhere like that, or is that something I would need to buy elsewhere(like a website or vets office)? Does anyone have any recomendations on places to go for some cheaper ones(because the kind I've seen are pretty pricey) or what kind I should use? Thanks to anyone who can help me!!

Heartworm prevention??
First of all, if you're in a heartworm endemic area, she should have a heartworm test done before your dog goes on any medication for prevention. The new meds rarely kill the dog with heartworm infection any more but can still cause her to be quite sick. There are pet stores out there that sell products that may claim to prevent heartworm, but they won't. The FDA approves only certain companies to use the effective medicines that will prevent heartworm, and I'm sorry to say, you'll need to get them from the vet. Yes, they can be pricey, but if you've ever seen a dogs heart full of long, stringy white worms ( and I do mean FULL!), then you won't begrudge the cost. I know there are some online companies that distribute veterinary meds, but just make sure it's the same medication as the stuff at the vet!

You might also consider looking into pet insurance; they may cover some expenses like that.
Reply:The best thing to do is get it from your vet. I use heart guard for my dog.
Reply:well, theres a kind called Prevention thats its a liquid that you simply put on the dogs skin. you move the fur over, exposing the skin and pour the little bit of liquid on. what happens then is it gets absorbed in and it works well!

its better than a pill, i think anyways.

you just cant get it on your own skin or touch the dog's back on that spot for half an hour.

good luck!:)
Reply:hopefully they tested her and it was neg. try 1800 petmeds. some places price match. you will need your vet to write a prescription. your should have your dog on heartworm prevention all year all it takes is 1 mosquito. the prevention is ALOT cheaper then heartworm treatment.

i dont understand why people get pets if they dont want to put them on prevention or vaccinate. because its "pretty pricey" i just dont get it.
Reply:You'll need a vets prescription to buy a heartworm preventative. I get my dogs stuff online from the Doctor Foster and Smith's website. I've found they're generally cheaper than my vet can offer. Jeffers is another store that offers dog stuff. Both have catalogs they'll mail to you as well. I buy most of my pets stuff from these two places because they're so much cheaper than Petco or other pet stores(even with the shipping). I use the "Heartgard" chewable for my dogs.
Reply:yeah your going to have to go to vet for HWorm meds. Its a prescription. But your going to have to get a HWorm Test first to make sure your dog doesn't have any HWorms already. (which requires them poking your dog and taking blood, and it has immediate results like in 10 min. at a regular vet)(I use a low cost vet clinic that comes to a Petco Pet Store in my area and the bloodwork has to be sent out to a lab, but its worth it because the test and the meds are cheaper) Its also recommended that you get a new test every year just to make sure the meds are still working, and your dog hasn't gotten any HWorms. Please Get em' tested! Your dog will live longer, and be more healthy.
Reply:I would strongly recommend purchasing heartworm prevention from your veterinarian.
Reply:You can buy the exact same meds as the vet online for about 1/2 the cost. First find out what kind your vet recommends...and then try petedge.com for some serious deals.

Definitely get your dog tested and definitely start a prevention routine. When we adopted our dog, she had heartworm-- and it's not a pleasant experience to get rid of it. It involves costly treatment and many weeks of "bedrest" for the dogs, which is hard to enforce. It's definitely worth it to avoid this with a simple once-a-month treatment.
Reply:get it from your vet or go online and get it from petmeds or something. it may be cheaper in the long run to do that. wherever you get it, just get it. because the cost of heartworm treatment will totally outweigh what you pay in prevention

Heartworm Prevention Tablets- Split with two dogs?

I have two boston terriers who are below 15 pounds each. I just noticed that the heartworm prevention I got from the vet which I have been using for a couple of months is for dogs 26-50lbs. Should I continue giving them a whole tab or should I split it in half? I would prefer answers not from someone like me who is just guessing but from a vet, a tech, or someone who has done this in the past with an o.k. from their vet. Thanks!

Heartworm Prevention Tablets- Split with two dogs?
Call your vet for the correct answer on this. You could be under dosing the dogs and that will be them at high risk. Your vet will know exactly what to do.
Reply:Good girl! It it always best to ask your vet where these things matter! Report It

Reply:If you're looking for answers from a vet, is there a reason that you're asking this HERE instead of, say, calling your vet and asking them?
Reply:We used to do that with our dogs and the vet said it was fine.
Reply:I wouldn't split them. I have had this conversation with my vet and the dosage is different. Call and see if you can get the right dosage.
Reply:You need to buy the correct strength heartworm prevention pills for each dog, because if they get the wrong strength, it can make them sick. Splitting them in half might still be too strong.
Reply:Not all pills have equal amounts distributed on each side of the pill. Check with a vet.

It only takes a few minutes to call.

I highly doubt a vet gets on yahoo answers to answer questions all day long.

sorry it that sounds mean!
Reply:And you haven't called your vet why? If you have the wrong dosage, usually they will let you trade out (if the package is unopened) with no additional fees. I do believe it is definately better to get the right dosage for the dogs rather than to split what they have. It's not worth the risk of underdosing. But definately do what YOUR vet says, they are the ones with the most experience with your specific dogs. Moreover, the smaller doses are often cheaper. I also have two dogs of approximately the same weight, I get a six month supply and split it between the two (making it a three month supply in reality). This is a little easier than forking out a ton of money at once every six or twelve months.

If your pets aren't worth a few extra bucks to maintain their health, then why do you have them? What's more important, your pets, or your cash? Keep in mind that if they are underdosed they can contract heartworms and usually it is fatal for dogs. At best it's extremely expensive and painful.

Usually when a doctor or vet tells you to cut a pill in half, it's when you have to take both halves within a 24-hr period. The reason is that you can't guarantee you'll get the exact same dose from both halves. A full dose may be too much for the stomach at once, so they have you split it up because the manufacturer doesn't provide smaller doses as an option.
Reply:I do animal rescue and have for years. My vet often sells me medicine and tick preventive medicine for larger dogs and has told me how to break the dosage down for smaller dogs. It keeps my cost of rescuing down and for that I appreciate it. Splitting the tablet in half is the right thing to do. If you ever are concerned, a quick call to your vet is always a good answer.
Reply:any experts n field of dog industries was prevent their dogs from infect by mosquito ...and heart pudge ...... by pets infect controller with heatrguard or interseptic inject........ but interseptic wil coz phycology crashing in between 10 in 1 vaccination and interseptic ........so heartguard is a betterway to kill heartworm there was growing inside dog's body ....... there separed to three type : small breed (blue) ,medium (green) ,..... and large (brown) .... your dog two is boston terrier sould be taken small\blue in color for monthly..... and you should giving whole tablet but not half........ there is a effective way to kill heartworm..... not matter how either experts also can't prove her dog is safe in their enviroment ..... thank for reading
Reply:I'm thinking that the Vet gave you the amount for larger dogs with the intention of you splitting one in half, but he should have told you. My Vet has done the same. Definitely, call your vet and tell him you are giving your dogs almost 3 times the dose. This could be very hazardous to your dogs. I have had the ok from my Vet to use a few drops of K-9Advantix on my Shih Tzu puppy and use the rest of the tube on my 3 yr old Lhasa Apso. Please inform your Vet ASAP that you are giving a very high dose to a small dog!!!!!
Reply:Split it!! Don't give them added chemicals they don't need.
Reply:If you are talking about the Heartgard chew-ables, do not split them. The medication is injected into the chew, so the medication may not be equally distributed through out the tablet. So one dog could end up receiving all the medication and the other could end up with none. Splitting up a larger vial of flea prevention is completely different, because the medication is evenly dispersed though out the liquid.
Reply:Split it.
Reply:I would say that splitting it would be fine.

Flood prevention?

can you tell me some flood prevention facts??

Flood prevention?
Well for minor floods a trench would be good, or for bigger floods to live on the top of a hill. But Jarrow is right!
Reply:That it leads to false sense of security... If an area floods dont build there simple enough, Thats the best flood protection there is!
Reply:Write your congress men about how concerned you are about global warming which will flood half of the USA either under regular floods or rising seal levels. Oh yeah, do NOT live in Florida. It is doomed.
