Pink Eye Prevention?

what would be a prevention plan to stop the spread of conjunctivitis in school. What would the estimated cost of this plan be?

Thank You.

Pink Eye Prevention?
No vitamin can prevent conjunctivitis. It's an infection/inflammation. Not tissue breakdown.

Educating both students and parents in handwashing, refraining from rubbing the eyes, more handwashing, using disposable tissue to cough and sneeze into and handwashing would make a good prevention plan.

Educating parents and teachers in the common symptoms of conjunctivitis (how to recognize it) and how it's transmitted would be invaluable. Teaching everyone that there are different types of conjunctivitis and not every type is contagious, caused by bacteria or requires antibiotic treatment would also be nice. Treatment and contact precautions should be taught.

A special assembly with a public health nurse - maybe the school nurse as speaker, as many have an MPH - would take care of students. A second one in the evening for parents and teachers. For both, a computer slide show to view a a case of conjunctivitis and Q %26amp; A session afterward. And written info sent home with kids/parents. The CDC or local health dept. can provide this. The cost would be nominal.
Reply:Everyone to not use other people's eye stuff and for everyone to wear goggles. lol!
Reply:Preventative vitamins are Vitamin A, C, B5 and B2

Vitamins and Minerals

Vitamin A: Vitamin A is especially important in promoting health in all epithelial tissues, including the conjunctiva.

Vitamin B Complex: Conjunctivis can be triggered by a vitamin B2 deficiency, but supplementing with the entire B complex can increase the availability of vitamin B2 without inducing deficiencies of the other B vitamins.
