Does anybody have any cures/prevention for canker sores?
Ever since I had braces when i was a kid, I get canker sores. You know those big, painful, 7 to 10 day lasting sores. My grandmother gets them too and she had them her whole life until she found a mouthwash called Prevention. I finally started using it religiously and sure enough, now I am free of canker sores!!!! I'm not selling the stuff or anything like that. I just wanted to let everyone know that it could work for them.

Let me know if there are any other cures/preventions.

You can get a wet tea bag and hold it in your mouth and the tannic acids will help cut the duration.
Reply:carmex..it helps heal it and dry it up

Mud fever prevention routines for winter?
What routine and products does everyone use in the winter to prevent mud fever?
I start early as prevention is better than cure.
At the moment I'm washing my horse's legs with warm water and hibi scrub liquid, drying with a towel (or mild hairdryer) and then bandaging over night (she's in at night).
She then has mud block on her pasterns and heels for turning out in the morning.
Anybody know of any good products or methods to keep away the bacteria?
Mud fever prevention routines for winter?
Eqyss makes really good products that kills fungus and bacteria. I use Micro-tek medicated shampoo, micro-tek medicated gel or Micro-tek medicated spray for any skin problems for my horse, myself, and my cats. :-) The spray might help you out before your bandages go on. You can buy these at Big D's or Valleyvet. I've never heard of anyone doing so much to prevent the mudfever! I hope you are successful...
Reply:Sorry, we don't have that problem where I live.....
Reply:Make sure the legs are clean and dry and then coat them in liquid paraffin or mineral oil - makes them repel everything. Used to do it with polo ponies that get roughed off for 6 months in the winter - also put it all over their backs to prevent rain scald. The coat has to be dry though otherwise moisture gets trapped at the roots and the hair will come out.
Reply:I agree with Lusitano! Great prevenative measures! I normally just keep deep shavings in the run in so they have a dry area to stand in. Drying the legs seems to do the trick here...I also use a listerine spray several times a week to keep it from ocurring. Keep up the good work!
Reply:Prevention !
Wash the legs then when they are dry spray them with 7 day mud away.
It really does last for 7 days.

Sonic bark prevention?
just wondering if anyone has any experience with the sonic bark prevention devices?
i would prefer to get the type you mount somewhere in the home, that way my dog does not have to wear a collar and he is free to bark outside, at the dog park, etc.
has anyone had any luck with this type of system?
Sonic bark prevention?
We had a female Great Pyrenees that was a relentless barker. I bought one of these to use just at night and it didn't seem to work *at all* with her. JMPE
Reply:I personally have never used them. but just try to steer clear of the kind that shock the dogs that's just soooo mean...
Reply:My parents tried the collar version on their very barky jack russell. didn't work at all, unfortunately for them!

Teens & HIV Prevention, what works?
I work for a teen HIV prevention program and we're trying to create a video. What do you think is important to include in the video. It's goin to be about 20 minutes long.
Teens %26amp; HIV Prevention, what works?
I would include the fact that the only 100% way to avoid death from this incurable disease (comparable to cancer) is abstinence. Be real. Do not sugar coat anything. They need to be afraid. Very afraid. Interview people who got HIV from heterosexual contact. Many teens still think only gay or drug users get it.
Reply:condoms
Reply:It is unfortunate but I doubt if this will have any impact on teens watching the film. Teens all think that "it won't happen to me". They are indestructible... life goes on forever. So they drink and drive. So they smoke cigarettes. So they have unprotected sex.
Even showing teens who have unfortunately been infected with HIV/Aids, the same dummies will still go along and have unprotected sex. And if they are lucky enough not to get HIV/Aids, they could come down with any one of the myriad sexually transmitted diseases.
If you want to Try to make a video that will scare teens into smart behavior, be as graphic and gruesome as you can... really show them the end results of this horrible disease. Maybe you'll scare one or two of them into being smart.
Reply:only candoms .
Reply:Please emphasize the option of abstinence. It is an important factor in teens making a major physical and mental decision that can affect their entire life. That is the only sure way of prevention. Everything else has risks. Emphasize making choices in a positive way such as finding friends to group date with, choosing friends that will support their decision, etc.
Reply:Abstinance, proper use of condoms including use of water based lubricants to prevent the condom from breaking, emotional effects of sex, the "sex Pyramid" to show sexual history of partners partners partners.
