Flea prevention?
ive been a tech in south florida and now in the chicago area. Best bet is Advantix for Dogs and feline Advantage. Frontline is crap. Advantix is for fleas, ticks, and mosquitos. Advantage is fleas and ticks. Both are great products. But if your house has both cats and dogs and they play together.. you may want to have the dogs on Advantage also.. advantix cannot be metabolized by cats so if they get it on them, bad neurological consequences.
Reply:frontline is good. give them spot on treatment once a month for 6 months then every 3 months thereafter. Try using sevin 85 for the environment. hope this helps.
Reply:Frontline is best because it prevents ticks, too. Advantage %26amp; Revolution are good products, but dont protect against ticks. Ticks are just as much of a concern as fleas in Texas, and can carry dangerous blood parasites %26amp; Lyme disease. BioSpot is an older flea medicine that isnt used much anymore. It's not as good as the others. Do not rely on any over the counter flea control such as Hartz, that stuff doesnt work well and can be toxic to cats if your dog comes in contact with them. Some dogs also have allergic reactions to it.
Reply:Frontline is the best. Waterproof. For god's sake, don't use bio spot on your cat!
Reply:to save $$$$$ ADVANTAGE( not plus) can be used on both ur dog %26amp;cat.....u can buy the LG. size for dogs (100 lb.) and use 1cc on cat .then depending how much ur dog weighs use the rest.....it comes out cheaper like that!!!
Reply:FRONTLINE PLUS IS THE BEST CHOICE!!!!!!!!
Reply:there are fleas everywhere...

and in my experience, frontline is THE best - just do it a few days before the bath so the greasy spot will be washed away
Reply:Frontline and Advantage are both excellent and non-toxic. Bio spot is toxic, and we see a few cats with seizures every year after it has been used on them! Hartz products are the worst you can buy!
Reply:Lucky you, no fleas in Nevada...I think I'm moving there! Seriously though, now you're going to encounter them, the best protection is Frontline Plus as it kills both fleas and ticks.

That's important because ticks carry Lyme Disease and other nasties that you don't want. Just one application a month will keep the little critters at bay!

Good luck with your move, hope you enjoy Texas!
